Hotel Demeure Les Mouettes

The property was converted into the Hostellerie de la Grande Bleue in 1920 and, subsequent to its purchase by the Pieri family in 2006, the hotel was further transformed into its current form.

The superbly appointed hotel now has 27 air conditioned double and twin rooms with 5 room types:

Classic rooms with views of the rear garden.
Charm rooms with sea view and small terrace.
Superior rooms with sea view and a large terrace.
Privilege rooms with sea view, large terrace and seating area.
Deluxe Suite(45-55m2)with sea view and large terrace. 

All the rooms are light and airy, well decorated and have satellite TV, WiFi, safe, minibar, telephone, balcony or terrace (except Classic rooms), en suite bath or shower room, hairdryer and iPhone docking station (Superior and Privilege rooms only). Some room types can interconnect and additional beds can be provided in the Privilege rooms on request.

The hotel serves a gourmet breakfast on the terrace each morning. Gastronomic restaurant A Terrazza serves lunch and dinner on some nights (on reservation, extra cost).  Snacks are available all day from the poolside bar. Given the hotel’s proximity to the centre of Ajaccio, there is an array of restaurants, bars and cafés within a short walk, offer a cosmopolitan choice of dining experiences.

The hotel has a large outdoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, surrounded by a sunbathing terrace equipped with sunbeds and relaxing chairs. There is also a small sandy beach reserved for the hotel guests accessed directly from the terrace and from where it is possible to swim and snorkel (the hotel provides snorkelling equipment free of charge to guests) and there are stand-up paddleboards available to hire (extra cost).

The hotel can arrange various watersport activities for guests including diving and jet-skiing and also watersports for children. There are also bikes for hire and private boat excursions with an English speaking skipper so guests can explore the beautiful coastline and the nearby Iles Sanguinaires. For those looking to indulge in more leisurely activities, there is a Crenacare® spa offering beauty treatments, massages and Hammam located on the rooftop terrace.

In addition, the hotel offers locally sourced Corsican produce from its small gift shop and there is limited free parking at the hotel for guests wishing to have use of a car but there is a regular, frequent public bus service into Ajaccio centre. Baby monitors, babysitting and laundry services are available and DVD players can be hired from the hotel’s reception.

Hotel Demeure Les Mouettes occupies an enviable beachside position overlooking the Bay of Ajaccio, approximately 2km away from the city centre. The administrative capital of Corsica, Ajaccio is a major port with a population of 80,000, boasting an excellent array of shopping and leisure opportunities and, being the birthplace of Napoléon Bonaparte has a museum dedicated to him, along with several other superb examples of architecture making up the many impressive buildings forming the city. 

Ajaccio, with its palm-fringed promenade and boulevards, fashionable shops, elegant buildings, Old Town and port is a distinguished capital reminiscent of Nice and the French Riviera. There are numerous restaurants and bars throughout the city, particularly around the port area, along with beautiful long, sandy beaches. Ajaccio is a fascinating mix of old and new, lively and peaceful.
